Sigma 1 Stress (?1) at the production level can be modelled by using Finite Different Method (FDM) with strain-softening material behavior in FLAC 8.0 software. However the results are highly depend on the mesh number (mesh dependency). However the modeling results are highly depend on mesh size or number of elements and distance from the production level or what is called the distance of the cave front. This modelling different number of elements or mesh sizes. The number of elements consists of 625 elements (20mx 20m element size), medium with 2500 elements (10mx 10m element size) and fine with 10000 elements (5mx 5m element size). The modelling showed that the smaller the number of the element size, the closer the distance between the production level and the reference point, the higher the sigma 1 (?1) stress value is obtained. the stress value of sigma 1 (?1) at the reference point at the production level for each mesh size is not much different when getting farther away from the production level or the distance from the cave front is getting bigger. When the critical strain values at each mesh size are changed, the sigma 1 stress values at each mesh size show no significant difference with when the critical strain values remain at each mesh size. text
