Description
Summary:The tourism industry has the capability as citizen economic generator. Kotagede heritage area seen as alternatives for tourism destination, but this area is difficult to reach. Singosaren area has a location as a connecting place between Kotagede and national road, become a key in KCB Kotagede tourism development. City land use planning has an important role in tourism development. A successful and sustainable tourism development could be moving citizen desire (Sue Beeton). Power and desire capable of directing, to control, and to force its will and manifested through land use planning (Dovey,2010). Street configuration, open space, and buildings are manifest of the socio-culture product. These all can create neighborhood character. Traveling purpose is to find unique experiences, so urban design quality will affect user space experience gradually. It starts with seeing the differences (feel), emotion engagement (affect), until record the moment (atmosphere). Tourism activities should improve its citizen welfare. This paper objected to studying Singosaren's potential connectivity to be developed as the unity of Kotagede historical tourism destination. Design process divided into three stages: identification, to find out neighborhood character that can be appreciated; analysis, to find comprehensive findings and make it as design principle; Design, to illustrate 2D and 3D models. For a precise result, the design process will use mapping with a certain scale based on field observation. Usage of singosaren space demonstrated the strength of social interaction between peoples, such as visual access from the street into the house, also the usage of private space to be accessible to the public. For the field study, writers try to do with permeability study methods as an approach to find the relationship between privacy and accessibility at design location. With this approach, the study capable of producing design principles, which ensure to achieve Singosaren for the quality of interaction between resident and tourist. Hopefully, this study will give design alternatives for Singosaren area, so this is will sustain to develop its potential.
