ANALYSIS OF 18O AND 2H STABLE ISOTOPES OF GROUNDWATER ON UNCONFINED AQUIFER AND ITS RELATION TO HYDROMETEOROLOGICAL AND ANTHROPOGENIC PROCESS IN THE BANDUNG-SOREANG GROUNDWATER BASIN

Unconfined groundwater is a system that is directly connected to earth surface and atmosphere. The Bandung-Soreang Groundwater Basin has unique topographic and hydrometeorological characteristics that may take control the movement of water from its source. In addition, human interference such as exc...

The Bandung-Soreang Groundwater Basin has unique topographic and hydrometeorological characteristics that may take control the movement of water from its source. In addition, human interference such as excessive groundwater extraction must be taken into cosideration. This research applied stable isotope methods of 18O and 2H to evaluate the origin of the water and hydrogeochemistry to identify type of water. Geographic information system is used to interpolate data and to make spatial visualisation of ?18O and ?2H. By overlying isotop data, wind direction and groundwater reduction zone, analysis of hydrometeorology and anthropogenic factor on ?18O and ?2H variation could be performed. The result shows that winds moving into the basin carry precipitation mass with havier isotopes from water surface reservoir then it predominantly filled the unconfined groundwater in the western part to center of the basin. Meanwhile, groundwater extraction in the northern part of the basin has resulted ? 18O and ?2H anomalies due to mixing with surrounding groundwater that has heavy isotopes and surface water. text
