Summary: | Limited land resource and the large amount of population pressure has caused land
conversion problems, turning agricultural land for non-agricultural use. This has
resulted in a narrowing of the agricultural land area and impacted the food security,
farmer’s livelihood, and financial condition. Agroforestry is a solution to overcome
these problems. Agroforestry integrates agricultural activities on forest land in
addition to increasing production while also maintain environmental sustainability.
One of the factors for the success of Agroforestry practices is the community
involvement every steps on the process. Therefore, it requires human resources
(farmers) with sufficient capacity to run Agroforesty. However, the practice of
Agroforestry is different from the practice of farming on ordinary agriculture.
Agroforestry involves forest management to preserve forests, involves agribusiness
activities (upstream-downstream), and is polycultural. So this study aims to measure
the extent of farmers’ human resource capacity in developing Agroforestry as a basis
for developing local economy. In the implementation, the research was conducted in
Lembang, West Bandung Regency, Suntenjaya Village to be exact, because this region
had the largest number of farmers compared to other regions in Lembang and other
than being surrounded by forest areas, there was a development of Agroforestry in
reserved forest area along the Manglayang Barat Mountains range. This research was
conducted with quantitative research and data collection using questionnaires with
stratified random sampling method by using the characteristics of the sample
respondents are farmers which are members of active farmer groups. The analytical
method used is Inferential Statistics Range Estimated Proportion Population to get an
overview of the entire population, from the sample information data.
