THE EFFECT OF MIGRATION ON THE QUALITY OF SLUM SETTLEMENT IN BOGOR CITY

The phenomenon of urbanization that is happening now is one of the causes of an increase in population that is not controlled in an urban area, with the phenomenon of urbanization in the city of Bogor will encourage people to migrate to urban areas. As a result of the phenomenon of migration, it can add to the burden of urban areas both in terms of space and intensity of activity. This situation creates the potential for the occurrence of slums and illegal settlements in an area that should not be occupied and results in slum areas. The purpose of this study is to explain the relationship of the phenomenon of migration that currently occurs in urban areas to the quality of slum areas. The method used in this study is descriptive quantitative. Data collection uses observation, and questionnaires, while data analysis techniques use migration analysis, analysis of slum areas, content analysis and statistical analysis which includes the test of the correlation coefficient, multiple regression test and coefficient of determination. The area sampled in this study were six slum areas scattered in each sub-district with a total sample of 99 respondents. Migration occurs because of differences in the characteristics of each region, which causes the displacement of the population they want. From the results of the analysis of research data and hypothesis testing it is known that the effect of migration has a positive effect on the decline in the quality of slum areas in the city of Bogor, meaning that the higher migratiom will cause the slum areas to decline quality, especially in the physical condition of settlements.
