Summary: | Natural convection is one of the heat transfer modes that occurred by the movement of fluid which caused by the density difference between the fluid particles. One example of natural convection process application in daily life is vertical converging channel. In the bigger scale, vertical converging channel system can be used as a model of a roof buiding design which can help to reduce heat that will come from the roof. By simulating some variation of vertical converging channel system.
The simulation is performed by using ANSYS 13 software. Channel aspect ratio variation is ranged from 0,015-0,2 and inclination angle is ranged from 15o-45o. In addition to variations in size, geometry variation was done too to look for some another alternative forms of system geometry which commonly applied in daily life.
This study find that there are two ways to optimize heat transfer either by maximizing channel aspect ratio or by minimizing inclination angle. The optimum inclination angle for heat transfer is 15o. The phenomenons which occurred in the boundary layer have some effects to heat transfer either directly or indirectly. |
