Description
Summary:Dyeing, drying, and stenteringare categorized dyeing and finishing process of textile industry. These processes are also called wet processingbecause the use of fluid as medium. The three processes have something in common, thermal energy. In conventional process, the waste heat from process just released to environment. So, in order to recover this energy, we use recuperator. This final project is studying the use of recuperator for recovering waste heat in textile factory. Waste heat potential of dyeing, drying, and stentering is coming from high temperature fluid. In dyeing process, waste heat is recovered from hot water. This 1000C water is just released to environment before entering next step of process. With recuperator, this hot water is used to preheat the next fresh water. In drying and stentering, the recuperator is recovering the waste by preheat the inlet air with outlet air. From energy balance, the recuperator in dyeing, drying, and stentering can save the use of thermal energy by 42%, 58%, and 36%. This thermal energy save will reduce the fuel cost in textile process.
