One of the sector which been concerned for having a large enough role related to the energy crisis and environmental problem is the aviation sector. From the several kinds of alternative fuels which being developed, Hydrotreated Renewable Jet, or HRJ in short, is a biofuel that has a great potential to meet the criteria as a substitute for jet fuel in the future. To ensure that HRJ can be used on airplanes, some experiments need to be done in stages by using a gas turbine engine. Basically, aircraft engines use gas turbine engine comprising main components that are similar to all types of gas turbines. Therefore, the type of 1s/60 Rover gas turbine engine can be used in this study. In this research, aviation fuel, also known as Jet A-1, mixed with 5% HRJ fuel, called B5. The results of this study indicate that the performance of gas turbine generated by B5 has characteristics that are not much different from Jet A-1.
