Summary: | The study by Siboro (2015) shows that Java Island has undergone an
economic transformation from the primary sector to the secondary and tertiary
sectors over the 2004-2014 range. Rural economic transformation that occurred
on Java Island is the process of economic development in Java. However, it is not
clear how far the rural economic transformation in Java changed the economic,
physic, and social aspect. Meanwhile, the quality of life is important and is the goal
of development. There is a problematic discussion in terms of economic
transformation work with better quality. Therefore, this study aims to analyze the
pattern of relationship of rural economic transformation with the quality of life in
Java. This research was conducted using quantitative method and using statistical
data from Potensi Desa in Java Island in 2003 and 2014. The main methodology of
this research is descriptive statistic analysis to explain rural economic
transformation phenomenon in Java, composite index to know the quality of rural
life in Java, and association analysis to find out the relationship of rural economic
transformation with quality of life in Java. The result shows that economic
transformation does not always have a positive relationship to all component of the
quality of life. Rural economic transformation has a positive relationship with the
quality of infrastructure, education, and health. But the rural economic
transformation has a negative relationship with the quality of environment. It is
because rural economic transformation can drive the increasing of service and
access to society. However, rural economic transformation can also give the
negative impact of environment if the process is not controlled properly. |
