Esemka Rajawali is a vehicle produced by Kiat Motor in collaboration with technical schools of Java island. This effort is expected to give an actual contribution to the Indonesia national car project. To enhance the indigenous substance of the vehicle, a prototype design and fabrication of transmission system is required. Review about basic theory on transmission system is done early on this research. This research then continued with design and selection of transmission system components. Before the process continued with the fabrication process, a test on manufacturability and availability is done. The heat treatment in fabrication process caused an aberration that needs to be analyzed to ensure the quality of each component. Before proceeding to performance testing, an analysis of the critical region is done using finite element method. The design result of transmission system allows Esemka Rajawali vehicle to perform relatively the same with other cars of the same type. The most critical region of the transmission system are located at first gear pinion which has a low bending strength. The result of design process produced components with a high level of manufacturability. The program made in this research proves to help simplify gear and shaft calculation with the similar case.
