description |
Riveside cultural in the city of Palembang has been formed since the government of
Sriwijaya until now. Musi River as a region that has value, tradition, and historical
relics, has the potential of tourism in the Palembang city. Riverside culture and tourist
attractions that spread along the Musi River can be an attraction in the design of the
floating hotel. The design problem is how to design a floating hotel by the river without
changing the riverside culture pattern that has been formed in the area.
The purpose of the floating hotel design are: Designing a floating hotel that creates the
atmosphere of a riverside settlement as the image of a floating hotel. Designing a
floating hotel that connects between tourist areas on the banks of the Musi River.
Designing a floating hotel with a cultural ecology approach as a method of exploring
the potential of nature and local culture to be an idea in the embodiment of the floating
hotel design architecture.
Steward (1972), created and envisioned the term of cultural ecology as a methodology
for understanding how humans adapt to different environmental contexts. There are
three stages done in this process. Documenting the technologies and methods used to
explore the environment. Looking at patterns of human or cultural behavior associated
with the use of the environment. And Analyze how many behavioral patterns are
influenced by other aspects of cultural behavior. This stage will be reviewed based on
elements of the physical, cultural and biological environment.
The results of this study will find a form of adaptation in the built environment that
produces the characteristics of buildings in the area. Then these characteristics are
transformed into the design of a floating hotel. |
