Summary: | Becoming one of the developing countries in Asia, Indonesia has a lot of potential in its industry and the most significant industrial development is in the food and beverage sector. The large contribution of the food and beverage industry in Indonesia has led to an increase in the number of restaurants as part of this industry. Lately, there is a high escalation on number of fast food restaurant as a result of increasing an instant lifestyle. Bandung, as the capital of West Java, which is the biggest contributor to the development of the restaurant industry also become one of the cities with the most number of fast food restaurant compared to other cities which makes the competition getting stringent.
In this highly competitive situation, companies are demanded to be competitive as well. To become a company that has competitiveness it is inseparable with the role of human resources who are expected to have competitive quality and produce superior performance in order to be able to face any challenges that occur under various conditions. Wibowo (2007) stated that the current and future conditions of the business environment show rapid increasing technology and social change. This shows that company needs a strong foundation in the form of human resources competencies in order to achieve success. The company will develop and be able to survive in a competitive environment if supported by competent human resources in their field. Prihadi (2004) also stated that competency generated superior performance. Organizations need competent human resources to support the successful implementation of work.
To manage its human resources based on the competency, Wendy’s Cihampelas Walk as one of Wendy’s branches in Bandung has implemented Competency Based Human Resources Management (CBHRM). CBHRM is an approach in developing human resource management by utilizing competency as its central point. CBHRM aspect that applied by the company are recruitment and selection, employee training, career development, performance assessment, and reward system.Wendy’s Cihampelas Walk has implemented CBHRM until now but they still did not have an evaluation system so they did not know whether the system influenced employees competency or not, which aspect is the most influential and whether there is any aspect that needs to be improved. In consequence, the purposes of this research are to analyze the influence of CBHRM towards employees competency, analyze which aspect becomes the most influential and which aspect that needs to be improved at Wendy’s Cihampelas Walk. This research will be conducted using qualitative and quantitative analysis in which data is collected through interview and questionnaires. The data processing method used is multiple linear regression. |
