INSTITUT TEKNOLOGI BANDUNG https://digilib.itb.ac.id/gdl/view/40794 In the oil and gas industry, the production, exploration, and distribution equipment of oil and gas has a very important role. But as the time goes by, the reliability of equipment will be decreased due to degradation. In order to determine the effect of reliability degradation, Fitness For Service (FFS) assessment is required. In this final project, degraded equipment is analyzed based on API 579: Fitness For Service section 12 acceptance criteria which deals with level 3 assessment of dent. Numerical analysis is performed using Abaqus software then proceed with analytic calculations using Mathcad® and Microsoft Excel 2010. The case study that is taken on this final project is flare piping having a dent in Handil Field - Central Processing Area. Based on the results of the inspection, it was found that the flare piping having dent in 5 areas. FFS level 3 assessment performed on a dent with the greatest dimension, that is dent 2A. Failure mode analysis is performed based on the protection of local failure, cyclic loading, and creep damage. Because the flare piping material in the case studies is not known, then the analysis is done by comparing the results of the FFS assessment for flare piping with 3 different materials, they are API 5L X42 flare piping, API 5L X60 flare piping and SS316L flare piping, so it can be determined the flare piping that has best ability to operate in a degraded condition. Based on calculations, it can be concluded that the API 5L X42 flare piping and API 5L X60 flare piping experiencing dent is not allowed to operate again because it does not meet the assessment criteria. While SS 316L flare piping experiencing dent is allowed to resume operation again for 3.25 hours. text
