Pasar Rumput Social Housing is a building complex which consist of two distinct building. Those buildings are high-rise social housing and traditional market. This project is located at Sultan Agung Street, South Jakarta. The project was initiated by Jakarta’s government with a support from Ministry of Public Work and Housing. Pasar Rumput Social Housing is targetting the low-income family to be the residents. The prioritized low income family are the relocated family from Ciliwung’s Riverbank. They are relocated for the normalization of the river. The design approach for this project would apply the social approach due to the user’s characteristics which is low-income family. As a further matters, the main concept from the project is about urban symbiosis and building’s integration. One of the design concept is providing a public open space which act as a main hub for the two buildings. The public space would also be an added value for the building. The strategic location of this project is also a main issue to keep maintaining the land’s value with the district’s vitality.
