Analysis is carried out for two samples containing one kind of sand and nine sand mixtures in straw container with different mixture fractions containing two kinds of sands, that is Kuta sand (K) and Pink sand (P). Qualitative and quantitative analysis is done for images with different methods of processing, those are thresholding images, despeckle images, smoothing images, and watershed images to determine the better image processing method for every sand samples. Grains detection in processed images and reconstruction images are compared qualitatively. Grains size from processed images using CTAn software compared quantitiavely to the measurement using mesh sieve. This research shows that for P sand is better using thresholding images, sand mixtures with fraction 0.1:0.9 until 0.5:0.5 are better using smoothing images, sand mixtures with fraction 0.6:0.4 until 0.8:0.2 are better using despeckle images, and sand mixtures with fraction 0.9:0.1 and K sand are better using watershed images. Calculation of porosity is carried out using images with the better processing method for every sand samples. Porosity from images compared to the calculation using law of mixtures. This research shows that there is difference in porosity value from images and law of mixtures. That shows that porosity is not only depend to the fraction of mixtures, but also depend to the grains packing in its container. text |
