Colonial legacies are the absolute reason why this research is required; it can be practical as a medium to develop the tourism sites. In determining the sites, the values and historic element that the area owns has been one factor why they are chosen. The aim of this project is to construct interpretations scheme plan which is able to support tourism activities in Ganesha - Gedung Sate through characteristics identifications of the inheritance, the characteristics of the target tourists and the concept formulation of the interpretations scheme. The planning is in line with Bandung Regulation, (Main Plan to Develop Tourism Area of Bandung City No.1, 013) regarding the establishment of strategic regional tourism in order to control the tourism development towards an improved purpose by dividing it into several strategic areas of tourism; which include tourism education and historical region, for instance, Ganesha – Gedung Sate which are placed South of Bandung. As an effort to develop tourism which is focused on Bandung?s heritages, this planning is conducted using interpretive tourism planning approach with guided trail interpretation method. The fundamental aim of this approach is to promote the meaning and to create space identity through a series of thematic interpretation activities in accordance with characteristics of the existing heritage resources and tourist expectations in regard of heritage trail. In regards to the methods, descriptive approach in a mix of qualitative and quantitative method is employed. A qualitative approach is used to describe the analysis of the supply and spatial area by analyzing the zoning based on spaces to discover the suitable and not suitable areas in the study area. Meanwhile, the quantitative approach is used to analyze the demand by distributing questionnaires to 104 respondents which are also students of some Universities in Bandung and the data was processed using Microsoft Excel. The sample is determined by purposive sampling, because the write assumes that the sample in this final project has specific criteria that the goal of the project can be achieved. The result of this study shows a characteristic of traction that appears in Ganesha – Gedung Sate. It is discovered that there are several types and functions of buildings such as the residential, government office, education center and some buildings that became a center of community service back in colonial times. Basically, the travel pattern is also very important, as many tourists consider the travel distance which prefer to choose 1 – 2 hours to reach and go through the activities that can provide information related to heritage tourism attraction visited. In addition to that, the majority of the respondents also argued that the existing heritage attraction in this area is interesting and significant. The planning of the heritage trail generated in this study is in the form of the concept and planning which can be utilized to establish spaces, activities, facilities, and the media's interpretation. Space creating plan is divided into three, namely; space tourism, reception and service area with facilities and activities according their own functions. The results of studies discover 5 plan routes which are classified into three categories based on time and distance : (1) Short Track is a route that has a maximum distance of 2 km trail with estimated travel 1 hours with 5-8 points of termination. The route also has three options which are categorized based on the theme of trail; ranging from trail of Ganesha – Gedung Sate, Institut Teknologi Bandung trail and trail of Gedung Sate. (2) Medium track that has a distance of 3.2 km long which can be covered for 2 hours with 10 points of termination. (3) Longest track that has a distance of 5.7 km with estimated travel time between 3-4 hours with 19 point of termination. |
