EFFECT OF CHROMIUM COMPOSITION ON IMPACT VALUE AND HARDNESS OF GX120Mn12 MATERIAL IN HAMMER MILL CASTINGS
Austenitic manganese steel is a material that has high toughness and ductility. Austenitic manganese steel is widely used in components requiring good wear resistance and ability to withstand impact loads. Material GX120Mn12 (DIN 1.3403) is one of the austenitic manganese steel material. Material...

Chromium content was varied from 0.5, 1 and 1.5%, while the composition of other elements were made constant within the standard composition. Heat treatment applied consist of solution treatment at 1050 oC, tempering at 480 oC and tempering at 595 oC. Testing was conducted on the sample microstructure, hardness and impact. These results suggest that increasing chromium content will lower the impact value. In contrast, the hardness value increases with increasing chromium content. The highest impact on the value of chromium content of 0.5% after solution treatment that is equal to 319 Joule. The highest hardness value of 1.5% chromium content after tempering at temperatures of 5950 C is equal to 384 HB. text |

Austenitic manganese steel is a material that has high toughness and ductility.
Austenitic manganese steel is widely used in components requiring good wear
resistance and ability to withstand impact loads. Material GX120Mn12 (DIN
1.3403) is one of the austenitic manganese steel material. Material is used for the
Hammer Mill, which is one component in the manufacture of flour machine

maximum of 1.5% chromium.
Key issues that were examined in this study was the effect of chromium content of
the impact value and material hardness GX120Mn12 on Hammer Mill product
after heat treatment. Chromium content was varied from 0.5, 1 and 1.5%, while
the composition of other elements were made constant within the standard

tempering at 480 oC and tempering at 595 oC. Testing was conducted on the
sample microstructure, hardness and impact.
These results suggest that increasing chromium content will lower the impact

The highest impact on the value of chromium content of 0.5% after solution
treatment that is equal to 319 Joule. The highest hardness value of 1.5%
