Summary: | This study deals with the manufacturing process of universal block steps as
POLMAN standard product. Universal block steps is one of the important
mechanical components on workpiece clamping system, which is used on
milling and drilling operation. Universal block steps are provided in a couple in
the same or different size according to the height of work pieces to be clamped.
The background of this study is to find the systematic way to solve the
problem/difficulties on manufacturing process to meet the dimension accuracy of
the steps (teeth) which support their interchangeability and ability to secure the
clamping.
In this study, the available manufacturing drawing and operation are reviewed
including fixturing and tooling, followed by design of a quality plan and
operation plan, used profile milling cutter and quality inspection instrument and
method.
This study provide an improved manufacturing drawing, standard operation plan,
workpiece fixturing system, appropriate profile milling cutter design and
dimension inspection method. |
