Description
Summary:This research explores the problem of pay gaps based on gender issues in which branch of the subject materials from cross-cultural and conflict management regarding gender equality problems. This gap is the result of the differentiation of gender roles between men and women, and not only the differentiating factor of gender roles but also other factors that lead to this gap. In this case the workforce and company are important variables to be analyzed in relation to the gender pay gap. According to research, almost all industries experience pay gaps, where the average wage of female workers is lower than the average wage of male workers. The focus of this research is to analyze the causes of gender pay gap issues in companies and how they affect the workforce, especially women workers. The research method used in this study is a combination of qualitative and quantitative research by adopting one method, it is case study. The case study method that been used in this study is to analyze the gender pay gap that occurs in one of the industrial manufacturing company, PT. Tiga Dimensi Data. The data obtained from the company were processed and analyzed to show that the cause of the gender pay gap was due to occupational sexism in the form of gender stereotypes carried out by managers and company directors, restrictions on employment opportunities and women's rights. In addition, the data also shows that there is occupational segregation in the horizontal segregation and vertical segregation lines. One interesting fact that was discovered by researchers from interview data with the company's key informants was the “acceptance” of female employees who already knew that their wages were being given unfairly. The research concluded that the analysis of gender differences had an impact on the existence of gaps and differences in pays between male workers and female workers in PT. Tiga Dimensi Data.
