Summary:Remote areas in Indonesia such as Nusa Tenggara and Papua that are difficult to reach, have a lower electrification ratio compared to other regions. To accelerate the use of Renewable Energy on Sumba Island, the Decree of the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Number 3051/30 / MEM / 2015 was established which assign Sumba Island as a Renewable Energy Iconic Island. Energy security is one of the important issues that need to be considered to carry out development as a whole, in order to achieve this, of course development must begin at the village level. In carrying out development at the village level the role of the village community and the government is very important, because those who have the right to determine the direction of development in their village. With the enactment of policies and the provision of funds to assist villages in carrying out independent development, the village should be able to be use it for the purpose of prospering the community. Therefore, this study examines how the conditions of energy security in the village and the role of the Village in achieving energy security through the provision of electricity by using Renewable Energy. This research was conducted using an analysis made by combining data from the material interviewed by key informants who were aware of the conditions of energy security and were also directly involved in the process of determining development priorities and the use of Village Funds. The results of this interview are then processed further to analyze the conditions of energy security in the village, identify constraints in providing renewable energy, and analyze the role of the village in achieving energy security in terms of village development priorities and the use of Village Funds. Based on the results of the analysis, it is known that the dimensions of energy security (availability, affordability, technology development and efficiency, environment and social sustainability, and regulation and governance). Desa Kamanggih have largely met the criteria of energy security at the village level. The lack of funds and inadequate community capacity are obstacles in providing electricity in the village. From the results of the analysis, it was also found that the priority of village development had covered the field of village development which was focused on road construction and the field of community empowerment which was focused on health and community capacity building. Kamanggih Villags has also played a role in providing and developing Renewable Energy in the Village through the formation of cooperatives and Village Funds which are used to provide electricity even though they are still small in number. Even so, this has shown that there have been efforts from the Village Government and village communities to provide electricity through renewable energy in the village of Kamanggih. In addition, the Village Fund also has the potential to provide electricity in the village with the purpose of improving the welfare of the village community.
