In the recent years, application of nanoparticles has been combined to brachyherapy to optimize therapy. It can enhance therapy doses in tissue. The purpose of this study were to assess the dose distribution of the use of gold nanoparticles in breast brachytherapy and to investigate the effect of gold nanoparticles of number and position seeds variations. A water phantom was used to examine eight different types of nanoparticles and a certain nanoparticles that results a highest dose will sequently be used to vary concentration of nanoparticles of 7, 10, 18, and 30 mg in breast phantom. Radioactive source used was microSelectronIr-192. A selected nanoparticles then varied on number and position seeds. There were three types of variations : variation of 8 seeds with interval between seeds 1 cm, variation of 8 seeds with interval between seeds 2 cm and variation of 16 seeds combined from the previous variations. The results obtained in the form of the dose profile, DEF, isodoses curve and DVH. The outcomes of this study were expected to be concluded the optimization function of nanoparticles in brachytherapy. text |
