MONITORING SYSTEM OF PARTICULATE MATTER WITH THE COMBINATION OF THE DUST SENSOR AND IMPACTOR

Description
Summary:Particulate Matter (PM) is an important factor to determine air quality. PM with particle size smaller than 2.5 ?m (PM2.5) and 10 ?m (PM10) are very dangerous because it can enter and be deposited in the alveoli of the lungs. For long time, it causes breathing problems. Therefore we need the monitoring systemof air quality with measurements PM2.5 and PM10 to prevent the pollution. For this purpose, in this study the PM measurement system was carried out using the Sharp GP2Y1010AU0F particle sensor. GP2Y is a low-cost, low-power scattering-based particle sensor and a simple and modifiable design. The modification are made by the combining of the GP2Y sensor and the impactor so that the detection of PM2.5 and PM10 are produced simultaneously in one instrument. The GP2Y sensor was characterized and from the experiment results the varied flow did not provide a significant difference so that the flow was 1 L / min with the highest linearity. GP2Y sensor is a particle sensor that is sensitive to the influence of particle size and type. The particle size that can be detected by GP2Y at 50% efficiency is 250 nm. Impactors designed with 0.6 mm nozzle diameter were tested using Optical Particle Counter and a cutoff diameter of 3.05 nm was obtained. The GP2Y sensor combined with the impactor is compared to Grimm and the R2 value of 0.99 is produced without using an impactor and R2 0.99 by using an impcator. The PM monitoring system is carried out using the concept of the Internet of Things with a communication network that is used based on the internet using the Message Queuing Telemetry Transport (MQTT) protocol so that it can be portable used in conducting field measurements.
