Summary:Earthquake is a natural disaster that has a fatal impact on the structure of the building. To create a model that shows the effect of earthquakes on structure model, one of the analyzes method used is the linear time history using the finite element method to model the structure. Model could be made conservatively with a Lumped mass elements. Conservative modeling can be done using Software such as Sap2000. To get results that are more in line with the state of the structure, modeling can be formed using consistent masses. To create a model with consistent mass, a program needs to be formed that takes into account the linear time history and finite element method using Matlab. The program written in Matlab shows results that are close to the Sap2000 results, where the resulting structural period or natural period has an Error of 3% for all models made. Using a consistent mass it was found that the structure period was smaller and the structure response was smaller for all directions except for the rotation in z direction, compared to the Lumped mass model. The direction of the earthquake given to the structure is also varied to vertical and horizontal direction and horizontal direction only, it is found that the vertical direction earthquake has little effect on the structure compared to effect of horizontal direction earthquake.
