In practice, unbalance and misalignment are the most common problem occured in every rotating machinery connected by coupling. Further study in misalignment fenomena caught the interest of Dynamic and Structure Integrity Laboratory, ITB Industrial Engineering Center, to do a research related with the mechanism that caused the vibration due to the presence of misalignment. This final project is a research to study the characteristics of parallel misalignment vibration response in the horizontal direction, and to explain the mechanism that caused it. Experiment results show that the presence of unbalance and parallel misalignment only increase the vibration response amplitude in the 1xrpm. The amplitude of vibration response in 2xrpm for parallel misalignment case occur due to the distortion of the 1xrpm signal. The distorsion of the 1xrpm signal caused by non-linear stiffness in the radial direction of the coupling in misaligned condition. text |
