Description
Summary:Internal combustion engine has been used for more than one century and is still being used until now. This final project theme is chosen by the writer because valve is one of the most important components in an internal combustion engine. Improving valve design can increase internal combustion engine efficiency. Valve is usually driven by a mechanism called a valve train. Valve train, in an internal combustion engine, usually contains component called a camshaft. The modification of valve train modification was done by studying the current available valve train, creating new design on paper and using computer. The computer design was done by using Solidworks® software. The designs, that were created are 3 dimensional drawings of components, assembly of components, and technical drawings complete with dimensions. Then the next steps were component analysis, lubricating analysis, and working model creation. The making of the model was done with help of technicians. The model was made using transparant material so that the mechanism can easily be seen. This mechanical valve train design can be researched and developed further. Development can be done by considering efficiency, maintenance simplicity, and production cost of the internal combustion engine.
