Identification of Local Defect Vibration Characteristic Result by Impact Load at Ball Bearing

Ball bearing is one of important machine component because the damage of the machine can start from bearing failure. Bearing failure cause by unnecessary handling method such as mounting by hitting or bearing fall so impact loading is occur. This impact will generate the defect at the bearing. Rolli...

Bearing failure cause by unnecessary handling method such as mounting by hitting or bearing fall so impact loading is occur. This impact will generate the defect at the bearing. Rolling element bearing defect can be detected from its vibration signal characteristic. Generally, the bearing defect identification is focused at appearance of local defect frequency such as BPFI, BPFO, BSF and FTF. Several literature say that this method is late to determine the bearing failure because this stage left one to five percent bearing life. This condition show that bearing has reach the third stage of bearing failure. The research is done to identify the second stage of bearing failure cause by impact load. This research is done to the bearing that has given a radial impact load at the special setup. Frequency analyzer that used in this research is PicoScope that can sampling the signal with frequency 20 MHz because the second stage bearing failure generate signal that has frequency more than 30000 Hz. The result from this research is the vibration signal that generated by second stage bearing failure can be detect by PicoScope. This signal in the form of high frequency impuls signal. This signal appear before the local defect frequency like BPFI, BPFO, BSF and FTF is occur. text
