Some of them do not want to continue the treatment because of that physical and psychological disturbance. This condition is worsen by the hospital environment that does not support the enhancement of patient’s wellbeing. The most common problem of hospital environment in indonesia is the absence of natural features, natural ventilation and lack of natural light. Whereas the environment factor is the most important factor in patient’s recovery factor. Biophilic design has the potential to increase human wellbeing when it is applied in building environment. It has benefit for human cognition, physical and psychological health. When it carried in health facility context, the application of biophilic attribut should consider government’s building standart. Based on the regulation, chemotherapy room is classified in the low-middle infection zone which the application of material should be picked carefully. The purpose of this research is to find out which biophilic attribute that suitable for breast cancer patient in chemotherapy room context. In this chemotherapy designing process, we use biophilic design method. The main goal of this method is to increase patient’s physical and psychological wellbeing. Study literature already done to identify how biophilic design attribute applied and through design precedent review. After the design has made, the evaluation process is done through interview to find out which design and attribute are considered the best, the biophilic design application pattern and quality also human-nature experience. The analysis process are done with two perspective, subjective and objective perspective. Based on our research, there are twelve biophilic design attribute that has benefit for increasing breast cancer patient’s wellbeing, including sunlight, color, water, plants, non-visual stimuli (odor&sound), thermal&airflow, view&vista, natural material, simulation of natural features, fractal, prospect and refuge. But, there are only eight attributes that could be applied in chemotherapy room, they are: sunlight, color, non-visual stimuli (odor&sound), view&vista, simulation of natural features, fractal, prospect and refuge. Fractal is considered by interviewees as the most positive attribute on wellbeing based on objective perspective. While with the subjective perspective, we discover that interviewees’s background play important role. In the patient perspective, their chemotherapy experience influence their answer. Indirect experience& symbolic experience are application pattern that can be used in chemotherapy room with indirect engagement as the human-nature interaction pattern. text |
