According to the Boeing Service Bulletin No: 737-78-1064, the delamination of Inner Duct Wall is caused by corrosion of the honeycomb core. In fact, there is no visual sign of corrosion at the honeycomb core in the delaminated Inner Duct Wall (IDW). The purpose of this research is to find out main cause of the delamination and to investigate the failure possibility of corrosion in the honeycomb core. The research method is by collecting and evaluating data. Further, analysis is conducted to verify the hypothesis by investigation some samples in a microscope and make analytical calculation. This research is carried out at PT. Garuda Maintenance Facility AeroAsia (GMF AeroAsia). The research shows that the main cause of delamination in the IDW structure is the heat from the engine. The heat causes bonding failure at the adhesive and a buckling failure mode at the back skin. The microscopic investigation shows the presence of initial corrosion at the honeycomb core walls. The damage level caused by the corrosion is also causes bonding failure at the adhesive and affect to the delamination on the IDW structure. Therefore, the Boeing statement about corrosion as main cause of the delamination is is partly right, but not to the core of the problem. text
