Summary: | The square is one of the important elements in the city center that has a function of
public space and the philosophy of the city. Tangerang City is an important city in
the Jabodetabekpunjur national strategic area. The existence of the square becomes
important to support the role of the City of Tangerang in the region. However,
Tangerang City Square still has many problems, and the provision of facilities does
not meet the needs of the community. The square design guidelines can be an option
for the square to fit the functions and community's needs. Therefore, this study aims
to develop Design Guidelines for Tangerang City Square Area. This research is an
exploratory study with historical and evaluative approach. Data was collected
through observation and questionnaires to visitors of the City Square in Tangerang.
Sampling was done through stratified sampling and obtained a sample of 96
respondents. Based on the results of data processing, it is known that there are four
important criteria that form the basis of the design of the square, namely identity,
comfort, accessibility, and attractiveness. Tangerang City Square has not been able
to achieve all of these criteria. The criteria which are considered to be the best
conditions are comfort, while those that have the worst conditions are identity
criteria.. Guidelines for designing the Tangerang City Square Area are made to
overcome the difficulties that the square needs. The guide becomes a reference to
provide the components needed in order to reach the square that identifies and is
accommodating to diverse activities as well as to the needs of visitors. |
