INSTITUT TEKNOLOGI BANDUNG https://digilib.itb.ac.id/gdl/view/41715 Virtual Reality (VR) is a technology that is now widely used in various industrial purposes. In addition to the benefits felt by its users, the use of VR can provide side effects that can prevent users to achieve the goal of using VR with safely and comfortably manners. These side effects include a simulator sickness that includes symptoms of dizziness, disorientation, and nausea to its users. Based on this, evaluation of the level of simulator sickness that the user feels is important to do. To find out the simulator sickness level, it can be done through assessment using postural stability measurement. This study aims to analyze and quantify the level of simulator sickness through measurement of postural stability. To achieve the research objectives, an experiment will be carried out using 30 minutes of VR Head-Mounted Display (HMD) while playing some simulator game. In the experiment, postural stability data collection will be conducted for every 10 minutes of the experiment. The results showed significant postural stability differences caused by differences in the duration of use of VR HMD. This result is the same as simulator sickness levels that measured using SSQ. In addition, some postural stability parameters have a high correlation with some of SSQ parameters. This proves that postural stability can be used to evaluate the level of simulator sickness. The results of this study are useful to provide an alternative system of assessment of simulator sickness more objectively. In addition, data obtained from this study can be useful for designing a work system that using VR. text |
