Description
Summary:Centella asiatica L. is a specific triterpenoid – producing plant such as asiaticoside which has various pharmacology effects. Accumulation of asiaticoside can be optimized thorugh elicitation process, one of which can be done with the application of Trichoderma harzianum Rifai, a fungi with dual effect of plant growth enhancement and elicitor. The goal of this research is to determine the value of growth rate and asiaticoside accumulation of C. asiatica that were treated with varying concentration of T. harzianum. Cultivation is done within 30 days in hydroponic system using a vessel with 7 cm diameter and 5 cm height filled with Hoagland’s medium (dilution factor of 10). Elicitor were added to the cultivation medium with variation of 105 ; 106 and 107 spore/mL. Growth curve plotting were done using logistic growth equation as the mathematical model, while asiaticoside content were determined using heat reflux extraction and spectrophotometry with wavelength value of 277 nm. Results showed that the highest specific growth rate was achieved via elicitation concentration 105 spore/mL, reaching the value of 3,8922 day-1, while highest asiaticoside yield was achieved via elicitation concentration 107 spore/mL, reaching the value of 2,1 % (w/w).
