Summary: | Landing an airplane at night or bad weather is difficult because of low visibility, therefore, runway edge light is required as an airstrip lighting indicator. To ensure the suitability of the runway edge light function with regulation, photometry is carried out periodically. This article specifically discusses the measurement scheme and data acquisition system carried out by runway edge light photometric instruments that are carried using drones. The measurement scheme used is vertical scanning with data retrieval at 5 heights. The photometry system developed has 2 subsystems that communicate wirelessly, namely the data acquisition subsystem to obtain data read by the sensor and the main station subsystem to process data and display the results. To realize the data acquisition system, the Python programming language is used to display acquired data in a graphical user interface. This photometric system was tested to measure Thorn EL-EAH runway edge light at the Indonesian Aviation Engineering Center. The results show that the data acquisition from runway edge light measurements is available with the desired format and ready for processing. |
