APPLICATION OF ERGONOMY IN REST AREA DESIGN AT SUKABUMI CITY TO SUPPORT GEOPARK CILETUH PELABUHAN RATU AS A TOURISM DESTINATION

Rest area is an area that is used to take a break from driving activities. The existence of the rest area is very important because according to a study, drivers who have been driving for 2 consecutive hours it is recommended to rest at least 15 minutes. As for drivers who have been driving for 4 hours in a row are required to rest at least 30 minutes. In Indonesia, generally rest areas are found on the freeway and only meet the basic needs for rest without having the attraction or characteristics to attract drivers or passengers to rest. At present, Geopark Ciletuh, does not yet have a rest area around it. So, it is necessary to design a rest area to support tourism activities in Geopark Ciletuh. The survey through a comparative study was carried out to determine the facilities needed in a rest area. After that, a questionnaire was distributed to respondents so that the priority of the facility was known. This research shows that the facilities needed, successively of the most important, are toilets, gas stations, places of worship, minimarkets, parking lots, food courts, fast food restaurants, workshops, weather and traffic information boards, tourist maps around, facilities relaxation, spare parts shop, information center, sights to see, souvenir shops, picnic areas, lodging, play areas, and car wash. In addition, an alternative rest area design was obtained as needed.
