The use of GPS for safety of life applications or as a means of navigations for drones or automatic vehicles calls for higher performances, especially in accuracy and integrity. Accuracy of the system can be aectedby various factor: satellite geometry relative to the user clock time error between satellite and receiver (user) ionospheric eect signal scattering Besides the position accuracy, system availability is another parameter of performance for the navigation satellite system. Availability is dened as du- ration where user has access to at least 4 satellites simultaneously. Software for estimating satellite constellation availability to any user posi- tion is developed. It consists of orbit propagator for N satellites and formula to determine access to any position at any time. In application of LEO constellation for Indonesia regional navigation mis- sion, use of 4 orbital plane is proved to have best gracefull degradation chara- cteristics. Another result shows that minimal 50% availability could be obtai- ned with only total 24 satellites in any LEO constellation. text |
