Description
Summary:Natural gas is one of the cleanest, safest, and vital sources of energy to the world's energy sources. In the process of natural gas processing, it is necessary to remove components that can adversely affect natural gas processing and environment, namely acid gas (CO2 and H2S). One of the most effective methods is by absorption using alkanolamine solvents The purpose of this experiment is to determine the operating condition and solvent composition that produce high H2S and CO2 absorption efficiency. The alkanolamine solvent that is used in this study is activated methyldiethanolamine (aMDEA) which is activated using piperazine. aMDEA concentration is varied by mixing fresh aMDEA with water to reach 15%-w, 30%-w, 40%-w, dan 50%-w aMDEA concentration. Liquid flow rate to gas flow rate ratio (L/G) varied between 0.02 – 0.15. this experiment is conducted at ambient pressure and regeneration temperature at 98 0C. Within the scope carried out in this study, simultaneous H2S and CO2 absorption with the best result is obtained at concentration of 40% -w. In addition, an increase in the L / G ratio also increases the efficiency of absorption of H2S and CO2 with the best results obtained at L/G of 0.0460.
