Summary: | Peatlands have a vital role in the lives of humans and other living things that are
around them. Peatlands has many functions that are vital for the life of living things,
such as freshwater sources for Fish life and as a habitat for a variety of living
things. The impact of human activities such as illegal logging, forest clearing, forest
fires, construction of waterways or canals, and changes in forest cover types to
other types of use cause the peat ecosystem to be damaged and degraded.
This research was conducted to maintain the water level of existing peat so that the
water level does not decrease beyond the limits set by the Kementriam Lingkungan
Hidup dan Kehutanan (KLHK). This study uses freewatt software which is
supported by the validation of the comparative model with the results of measuring
the water level in the field. Modeling water level in Kesatuan Hidrologi Gambut
(KHG) Pulang Pisau District Sub KHG 3 is carried out every week during the dry
season.
Furthermore, the results of the reduction in groundwater from the modeling
analyzed obtained a decrease in groundwater level values that are below the
standards of the Kementriam Lingkungan Hidup dan Kehutanan (KLHK) which
occurred in July, August, September and October. Then it can be recommended that the peat engineering needed for the gahong canal located in Sub KHG 3 is the
installation of a 40 cm high canal blocking.
