Summary: | According to the World Health Organization (WHO) "Mental health is the
foundation for the well-being of individuals and the functioning of a community
effectively." WHO estimates that more than 450 million people worldwide suffer
from mental disorders. In Indonesia alone, referring to the results of the Basic
Health Research (Riskesdas) in 2018, showing that the prevalence of households
with members suffering from mental disorders is 7 per 1000 with 84.9 percent
treatment coverage. This figure increased compared to 2013 which was 6 percent.
Therefore mental health problems cannot be considered trivial. It needs to be
prevented and controlled with promotive, preventive, curative and rehabilitative
efforts.
As a small part of the healing effort, the interior design industry can play a role
and contribute positively in building the environment and health facilities as one
way to maximize the restorative power of a space for people with mental disorders
in general. It is hoped that the results of this design can be useful for both parties;
sufferers and ordinary people, regarding the existence of mental disorders. |
