Summary: | A smart home power-saving system requires the capability to turn electrical appliances in the household on and off. The function is implemented in the form of electrical plugs that can cut electric current from the grid to plugged electrical appliance, as well as measure the appliance’s power consumption through voltage and power measurements. The plug communicates with the server via MQTT using the Wi-FI protocol. Through this connection the server can send on-off commands according to user settings to be executed by the plug, while the plug can send power measurement data to the server. The function of turning plugged appliance on and off and electrical power measurement have been tested and meet required specifications. |
