Summary: | Acacia mangium is one of the trees planted in KPH Bogor. The A. mangium plant
managed by the KPH Bogor uses a monoculture cropping pattern so that it is very
susceptible to pests and diseases that can cause plant growth to be hampered, the
quality of wood declining and even death of plants. Therefore, efforts need to be
made to monitor and control the health of stands around KPH Bogor in order to
grow healthy and increase the productivity of A. mangium wood. The purpose of
this study was to analyse the health level of A. mangium trees in KPH Bogor. The
method used is Forest Health Monitoring (FHM) (USDA-FS, 1997) conducted on
85 sample trees in 7 plots 23B RPH Maribaya BKPH Parung Panjang KPH Bogor
in Simple Random Sampling. The results showed that the health level of A. mangium
trees in plots 23B RPH Maribaya BKPH Parung Panjang KPH Bogor was 65% of
the trees classified as healthy, 19% had minor damage, and 16% were dead. Where
as the feasibility level of 22,35% is categorized as feasible, 49,41% is categorized
as eligible and the remaining 28,24% is categorized as inappropriate. Based on the
results of the assessment of the health quality of A. mangium trees in the 23B plot
RPH Maribaya BKPH Parung Panjang KPH Bogor, it is better to immediately do
logging to avoid the spread of pests and diseases in other plants. As for plants that
are damaged or conditionally feasible, maintenance measures are carried out in
accordance with the type of damage to maintain the quality of the wood when it is
to be harvested.
