OPTIMIZATION OF ANIDOLIC DAYLIGHTING SYSTEM IN BUILDING

Daylighting is one of the most important parts in designing a building because it creates a visual comfort perception for its occupants, so that daylighting should be utilized optimally. INSTITUT TEKNOLOGI BANDUNG https://digilib.itb.ac.id/gdl/view/42064 Daylighting is one of the most important parts in designing a building because it creates a visual comfort perception for its occupants, so that daylighting should be utilized optimally. In tropical buildings, windows are located on the facades, providing daylight penetration into the building. However, daylight can only penetrate within a limited depth through the window, even if there is no obstruction to the sky. In order to solve the above-mentioned problems that is by utilizing an Anidolic Daylighting System (ADS) can be applied. There are previous studies that investigated such system, but combined with vertical openings like window, so that the contribution and performance from the ADS itself is unknown. In this research, the focus is on optimizing the contribution and performance of an ADS without additional vertical openings. As case study, geometry of a building model measures 9×5×2.7 m3, with ADS measuring 3×9×0.5 m3, was used. Simulation was conducted by variying the collector angle within 0°~90°, type of distributor (rectangle and circle), and translucent material of the distributors in terms of diffuse transmitance (Td) and diffuse reflectance (Rd). The optimization method is Genetic Algorithm. The simulation results show that the combination of variables producing the most optimum DFavg and uniformity collector an angle of 70°, circle distributor and a value of Td 0.8 and Rd 0.08. The Anidolic Daylighting System contributes to the DFavg value of 0.43%. text
