One of the preservation of cultural heritage in the puppet art in Surakarta City is increasing age decreasing. The younger generation who should be the next generation in preserving cultural heritage is actually even less due to the reduced interest and the lack of more knowledge of the cultural heritage, Moreover, in this era of globalization, cultures from abroad that increasingly enter Indonesia are able to win the hearts of the younger generation, especially also in the Surakarta City. The inclusion of foreign culture causes young people to compare between local culture and culture from outside, and it can be concluded that according to young people this outside culture is much cooler and far more advanced compared to local culture in Indonesia. If this is’nt handled immediately, the local culture, especially in the cultural arts heritage :Wayang Surakarta will be increasingly extinct because there is no future generation to preserve it. Therefore, the design of the Surakarta Puppet Museum is urgently needed to re-educate the young people of the city of Surakarta and increase their interest in preserving this cultural and artistic heritage.
