Description
Summary:Segregation is known as an important process in many fields of industries for granular materials. Segregation occurs when granular materials with different physical properties ( diameter, densities, shapes, etc) are separated by external energy. One of the methods used for segregation is fluidization. Fluidization is a process of materials in a solid-state transformed into a like-liquid state when the suspension of fluids is given. In this study, segregation in binary mixture of different sized grains using fluidization simulation was observed. The simulation was performed by obtaining the segregation percentage of every diameter ratio of different size particles with equal densities. Then the densities were also variated with the same value of diameter ratio. Besides, the effect of a fixed diameter in the diameter ratio was as well observed. The results were every diameter ratio have a different percentage of segregation and not showing any linear connection and with the same diameter ratio but different fixed diameter, it was acquired a different segregation percentage. In the variety of densities, it showed two regions with different behaviors. One was having a directly proportional connection between density and segregation percentage and the other was indirectly proportional.
