H. Djuanda (Tahura Djuanda) is a natural conservation area located in northen Bandung and has important ecological functions to preserve natural ecosystem, maintain biodiversity, and maintain biogeochemical cycle. Butterfly is one of the animals that has a contribution to maintain sustainability of the natural ecosystem in Tahura Djuanda. Butterflies have vital roles in ecosystem as pollinators that can maintain plants genetic diversity, and as bioindicators of ecosystems health. This research was conducted to figure out the diversity and distribution of butterflies in Tahura Djuanda. The method used is standard walk, which is to walk along the trancsect line on jogging track in Tahura Djuanda, from Dago to Maribaya. The transect line is 5,5 km long, divided into 11 plots with the length of each plot is 500 m. Plot 1-6 and 9-10 have semi-closed to closed canopy while plot 7, 8, and 11 have an open canopy. Observation of the presence of butterflies is held at 08.00-13.00 WIB, with observation area of 5 m in the front, left, right, and top of the observer. Microclimate measurements were taken at each start and end point of the obseration plot: temperature and relative humidity were measured with sling psychrometer, and light intensity were measured with luxmeter. The observation of the presence of butterflies was conducted in December 2018. Based on the results of the study, the temperature in Tahura Djuanda ranged from 22-27?, relative humidity ranged from 79-95%, and the light intensity ranged from 700-45.000 Lux. From the observation of the presence of butterflies, 31 species of butterflies was found, with a total of 395 individuals from 5 families. One of the species, Troides helena, is categorized as protected species. Butterflies are most abundant in plot 7 and 8, with 166 individuals from 18 species in plot 7, and 71 individuals from 15 species in plot 8. The distribution of butterflies within Tahura Djuanda is uneven. text
