Summary: | As a new consultant company, PT Aksamaia Rekta Nusa (Aksamaia) is facing the challenge of difficulties in managing the projects properly. Some recent projects experienced decreased actual profit margins compare to what its planned in the beginning. There are also delays in project completion. This research aims to help Aksamaia to increase its project profit margin by improving project management at the company. To improve project management for Aksamaia, it is necessary to collecting data and information to find out the existing conditions. In order to anticipates the type of data needed and the data availability, this research use qualitative research methodology. This research collected primary data by observation on the daily operational of the company, Focus Group Discussion (FGD) and unstructured interview with Aksamaia managements and employees consecutively. The author then analyze existing project management at Aksamaia by using 10 Knowledge Areas from PMBOK® Guide as references. Current Tree Reality (CRT) was used to perform root cause analysis and found five reasonable root causes and Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK) approach was used as guidelines to find the alternative solutions. The author then develop several alternative solutions and discussed it with the company management who then determine three main criteria to prioritize which alternative solution to be implemented. Based on Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) analysis, three alternative solutions have the highest percentage to improve the project management in Aksamaia. The first alternative is to improve project cost estimation process, second, conduct a formal or informal training to improve human resource capability, and third, allocate proper budget for new equipment. To implement the proposed solution, tangible and intangibles resources required from the company. Tangible resources include budget allocation to implement the proposed solution and intangible resources include support, consistency and discipline from all stakeholders in the company. Implementation timeline will be from Q4 2019 until Q4 2020. In conclusion, it is necessary in further research to discuss how to evaluate and improve the proposed solution and implement other aspects related to project management at PT Aksamaia Rekta Nusa that have not been discussed in this research. |
