There are various methods to achieve optimized design. One of the methods is biomimetics. The general concept of biomimetics is to design a technology inspired by nature. From time to time, creatures continuously improve their biological function to survive, so their body are optimized. Their adaptation processes can be learned to help solving human problems. One of the interesting creatures to be studied in biomimetics is rhino beetle. Beetle forewing has many advantages from structure point of view. The wing is basically sandwich structure composite with high strength-to-weight ratio. It will be a breakthrough if the advantages of beetle forewing can be applied into aerospace technologies. This research is about the reconstruction of beetle forewing geometry. The steps until a wing model is obtained starts from choosing the reconstruction method. After that, the preparation method can be chosen, then the geometric data of wing can be extracted, and the wing is ready to be modelled. There are many limitations from this research, so simplification must be done in several aspects. Further development can be done after the reconstruction is finished, e.g. numerical simulation of wing structural strength using Finite Element Method. text |

One of the interesting creatures to be studied in biomimetics is rhino beetle. Beetle forewing has many advantages from structure point of view. The wing is basically sandwich structure composite with high strength-to-weight ratio. It will be a breakthrough if the advantages of beetle forewing can be applied into aerospace technologies.
