Along the citarum river there are 3,236 textile industries, with 90% of them do not have wastewater treatment plants (Wijayaka, 2018). Colouring agents in the wastewater could be dangerous for the environment duet o their carcLnogenic and mutagenic potentiaJ if they are not treated properly. Biological treatment of the textile waste using some dye de adating microbes i considered to be less expensive and Jess hazardous compared to chem1cal treatment (Eskam dkk, 2005). Dye degradation using a cons01tium of bacteria has more advantages than using single bacterium, because in a consortium different bacteria are working together to degrade colouring substances from different site (Karim, 2018). This study aim to analyze and optim izae the activity of the bacteriaJ consortium (Ben-IYZ-419) on the degradation of remazol brilliant blueR, a dye used in the Batik textile industry. The analysis was carried out by growing the bacteria in a minimal media containing a remazol brilliant blueR. The degradation activity of the bacteria was observed by spectrophotometry. The OptimaJ bacteria activity was find out by varying the bacterial growing condition like temperature, the composition of glucose; M9 salts in the growing medium and the pH in the bacterial growing medium. The resuJts showed that the Ben-JYZ-419 bacteriaJ consortium can degrade the remazol brilliant blue R. The most optimal degradation was achieve in the bacterial growing medium containing 6% (v/v) of glucose and 0% (v/v) of M9 salts with the pH of I and the growing temperature of 27 oc (room temperature). The bacterial concortium could degrade up to 98,89% of remazol brilliant blueR in the growing medium containing 200 ppm of it, which were cultivated in the optimal bacterial growing condition. text
