Summary: | Butylated hydroxyanisole is an antioxidant commonly used in food and pharmaceutical industries as preservative. However, it had been rep01ted that BHA had carsinogenic effect if it was conswned in a large amount. Therefore, the conswnption and use of BHA as preservative needed to be limited. In this research. a method of voltammetric analysis of BHA was developed using carbon paste electrode modified with molecularly imprinted poly(3-aminophenol). First of all, before the modification of CPE was conducted, CPE was
activated using H2S04 O.l M solution. CPE modification was then conducted vrn
electropolymerization in mixed solution of 0.4 mM 3-aminophenol and 0. I mM BHA using
cyclic voltammetry technique with cycle nwnber of electwpolymerization used was 25 cycles. Detennination of BHA was conducted using square wave voltammetry technique in phosphate buffered saline (PBS) pH 6. CPE modified with MIP(3-aminophenol) showed good repeatability, with linear range of 10 11M to 100 11M, and detection limit of0.8036j..lM. Scan rate analysis conducted showed that erectron transfer process was controiTed by difusion process. Detennination of BHA m marganne sample resulted in recovery percentage in range of 101.8% to I 04%.
