| Summary: | Folklore is a part of the collective culture, one of them is local legends. Situ Bagendit as one of tourist attractions in Garut is not only famous with its beautiful lake and scenery which attract the visitors, but also has a local legend which tells the origin of Situ Bagendit. Nowadays, Indonesian people's interest in folklore has begun to diminish. The use of folklore as an inspiration for fashion products by both local and international designers can bring opportunity to preserve Indonesian folklore through modern fashion. Ready-to-wear product is chosen as a medium to protect local folklores by adaptating the legend of Situ Bagendit. In the process of visualizing Situ Bagendit story, textile painting techniques are used to make the visualization of the story in order to increase the craftsmanship value to the products. Embroidery techniques, such as hand and manual embroideries, are also used to make the products become more artistic. |
