Summary: | Bumi Ganesha ITB Dormitory is one of dormitories that is owned by the Bandung Institute of
Technology and located on Jalan Cisitu Lama Number 35, Dago, Coblong, Bandung. This dormitory is
is build to answer the residential needs of regular S1 students of ITB, who come from the outside of
Bandung, related to good environmental quality. In this case, it is assumed that ITB rebuild the old
Bumi Ganesha Dormitory using the fund from Ministry of Education and Culture which is the area
enlarged from the existing area reaching 9,538m2 .
The problem raised in this case is the high tendency of ITB students to be individualistic as
well as the need for decent temporary housing for students who come from the outside of Bandung.
Therefore, this project is to provide housing aimed for regular ITB-Ganesha S1 non-Bidikmisi students
through designing a friendly environment, encouraging positive social interactions between residents,
and making students able to be more adaptive with the surrounding environment.
The issues based on the problem of this project are privacy, social interaction, and livability.
Privacy is required so that residents can contemplate and express themselves. Social interaction is an
important matter to minimize ITB student individualism and improve social quality. Livability create a
good environment that enhance the productivity of student’s activities . The three issues resulted the
concept of Student Residence as a Livable Social-Hub.
This dormitory project expected to accommodate 275 students that consist 2 buildings with a
height of 9 floors located in the east and west, separated by a river passing in the middle part of the
site. The two buildings are oriented to the location of the ITB Campus located in southern part of the
site. Residents can access the site via main access on Jalan Cisitu Lama and on Jalan Sangkuriang. The
ground floor becomes a public space intended for residents and the community to create social
interaction. The second floor till ninth floor consist of a typical floor containing cluster housing units
consisting of 3 rooms, 1 common room, and 2 bathrooms. Other facilities supporting social interaction
on the typical floor is the kitchen. |
