Summary: | Indonesia has many environmental problems which caused by dry waste and wet waste.
Some waste are produced by disposal processes in the textile industry. According to the
ministry of coordination of economy (2011: 77-79), one of pre-eminent industries in Java
is textile industry and textile product, this makes the textile industry has an important role
in contributing for the income of national foreign exchange and growth of employment
rates. Garut as one of regencies in West Java is well-known for producing silk weaving
products. Non-Machine Weaving Tools (ATBM) is still used for the manufacturing
process. The silk raw material which used by craftsmen is 95% imported from China and
the price of it is usually increasing each year. The increasing demand for silk woven
fabrics has caused silk waste being cumulated because some craftsmen do not process it
again, so it is unfortunate if the silk waste is not being reused. The research method is to
reprocess silk weaving waste by exploring yarn fabric techniques to reduce silk waste
which are applied to Garut weaving. |
